When you catch sight of a pest in your home, most likely you begin to fear if there are more. Here in the Southern states, we are no stranger to bugs and pests sneaking into our homes. However, with bug season lasting seemingly longer each year, the Corpus Christi movers want to help you prepare for potential bugs showing up in your home, as well as how to prevent them from coming back!
Know what the bug is. If you see the same type of bug more than once, get a good look at it and begin researching. Trying to catch it might be too lofty of a task, but getting a good look at it and remembering as much detail as possible will help you figure out what it is and how to get rid of it.
Be prepared. Having pest-control spray on hand is the ideal way to meet a bug. Whether it is a line of ants or something bigger (or flying, eek) then you need a reliable brand of bug killer to stop the intruding pest in its tracks.
Clean up. If you have unfinished projects or piles of laundry, they can become safe harbors for pests. Finish up projects inside and out and seal up any cracks in the wall or flooring. Install weather stripping on windows and doors and really create a barrier between your home and the outdoors.
Don't bring bugs in with you. Garage sale items, antiques, old furniture—they can be found for a fraction of their prices in retail stores. But, there is a possibility that these items are harboring a family of bugs! Thoroughly inspect the furniture and know that you might be risking an infestation of undetermined size.
Keep food out of the sink and trash taken out. Bugs come inside looking for food and water. If they don't find, they will leave. If they DO find it, they will move in with you and start a family while they are at it. The cleaner your home is, the less desirable it will be to bugs.
Pests can be a truly frustrating problem, but don't let them take over. Knowing what bugs you have and how to fight them is key in living a happy and buzz-free life in your own home.
