Moving is an exciting time, and there is no denying that it can also get to be overwhelming. Moving to Atlanta is a great experience for a wide range of people who are young or old, single or married. Atlanta has something to offer everyone! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
But before you can get excited planning your new life in Atlanta, you have to pack up your existing belongings and go through the tedious process of moving. Luckily, we have a few tips on how you can make the packing process a seamless and easy one.
Take it one day at a time, one room at a time. Moving is a big job, but don’t bite off more than you can chew. If you get started on the moving process with enough time in advance, you can take your time and you can space out the packing process a little at a time.
Keep it organized. In the flurry of packing, some people can’t resist the urge to start tossing things in boxes and getting things out of sight and out of mind. While this might seem like a speedy method of packing, it makes the unpacking process a nightmare. Keep your packing organized and you will know what goes where with ease.
Label everything. Don’t just write fragile on the side of boxes, make a clear itemized list of what exists in each box. This will help you and the movers as you clearly have labeled what box belongs where. Have a list for you, and a room labeled for the movers, such as labeling the pots and pans with the word “Kitchen” on the side.
Pad breakables with appropriate packing materials. Even if something is questionably breakable, it is better to be safe than sorry. Use linens, bubble wrap, and even newspaper to give a little cushioning to items that might break under the pressure of moving,
Get your paperwork in order. As you pack up areas of the home where you might leave important paperwork, be mindful and set aside a moving folder so that you don’t pack away anything you might need for moving day. Include copies of your moving agreement, moving insurance, your lease or mortgage agreement, and contact information for realtors and others involved in your changing of property.
Arrange to have kids and pets watched by someone you trust. Pets and children can be stressful in an already difficult time like moving. Having family or friends keep an eye on your dependents will take a significant amount of stress and additional worry out of moving day.
We hope you enjoy our moving tips, and we wish you the best of luck on your new home and your new life in the sprawling and lively city of Atlanta, Georgia!
