Family-Friendly Fun in Raleigh

Raleigh, North Carolina is often voted as “the best place to live in America.” Businessweek.com, Forbes, and countless smaller publications have all recognized Raleigh and its steady economy, low cost of living, well-educated (and friendly) population, and abundance of things to do. All of these positives add up to make Raleigh one of the best places to raise a family. In fact, Forbes rated Raleigh as the best place to raise a family in 2014. If you are new in town and would love to discover some family fun, your Raleigh relocation providers know plenty of places that you and the kids will enjoy! So you can start having some fun in this family town!

Check Out the Great Outdoors

  • Have you looked around? Raleigh is a particularly green city. There is more than 100 miles of public greenway trails, which offer endless fun for your kids. Take them for a long bike ride to burn off some energy and explore the city a bit.

  • If biking is not up your ally, then try Pullen Park. This public park includes a community center, an aquatics center, pedal boats, tennis courts and baseball fields. There is also a carousel, the C.P. Huntington miniature train, and kiddie boats for your children!

  • Depending on where you live, William B. Umstead State Park may be more convenient. This park includes more than 5,500 acres of land, and there are tons of activities to do with your kids; like: boating, camping and fishing.

  • You can take the kids to Dead Broke Farm for an afternoon. Do not let the name throw you off; Dead Broke Farm offers pony rides, guided trail rides, and western-style horseback riding lessons for the entire family.

Make Learning Fun

  • Raleigh is full of museums, especially ones geared towards children, so that they will not seem so dull. Marbles Kids Museum hosts events for your kids every day. They can learn about a really wide range of topics like gardening, engineering, art and food, all presented in a way that is really fun for kids. There is even an IMAX theatre!

  • If your little ones are not so little, you can head over to the Contemporary Art Museum, or CAM. There are tons of exhibits that feature local and national artists. There are also programs from kids in middle school and high school, like the Young Artists Advisory Panel and the Annual Young Artists Exhibition. The North Carolina Museum of History is another stop that may interest your older children. Its historical interactive exhibits and sports hall of fame may really catch the eye of young boys.

  • If you would like to combine both education and the great outdoors, head over to the American Tobacco Trail. While the name may not sound all that kid-friendly, the trail offers plenty to see and learn for children. It stretches on for 23 miles and features cultural exhibits and educational gardens. There are biking and equestrian trails and picnic areas for lunch too.

Your Raleigh relocation specialists think that Forbes knew exactly what they were talking about when they ranked our town as the best place to raise a family. And now that you are here and know of a few places to take the kids, don't you have to agree?
