When you look online at things to do in Corpus Christi, you are reading about the generic things to do. There is so much more to Corpus than meets the eye. Sure, the Texas State Aquarium and USS Lexington are fun, but for the true hidden gems of Corpus Christi, you need to think like a local.
For good eats, there is the Yin Yang Fandango and the Tango Tea Room. It’s a tiny little café and shop that serves vegetarian and vegan food. It’s a cozy little spot that has a welcoming atmosphere. It’s quite earthy and even a little hipster, so if that isn’t your scene, this is definitely not the place to go. It’s laid back and a great place to hang out with friends and grab a bite to eat. For occasions ranging from lunch with the girls to special events, Harrison’s Landing is the place to go. With its laid back outdoor seating, literally on the water, you can never go wrong. Part of the restaurant is on a floating dock, so while you’re eating you can feel the light bobbing up and down of the water. Talk about relaxing! And the scenery is perfect. On one side there is the Corpus Christi skyline, and on the other this is the beautiful view of the bay. Not to mention the burger is absolutely to die for. You can never go wrong with a trip to Harrison’s Landing.
Online the main things advertised are the things that cost you money, but the best thing to do doesn’t cost a penny. The beach! In Corpus, you are allowed to drive on the beaches. That means load up the truck with what you need and you are set for the day. Make some sandwiches, load up the cooler (for those of age keep in mind that you are not allowed to have glass bottles on the beach), and some fun beach games and you are ready to go. Remember to bring sunscreen, because a sunburn can ruin a trip to the beach real quick, and go relax on the shores of Padre Island. There is nothing better than a day well spent at the beach.
There is always something going on in Corpus. Whether it be a concert, or some kind of festival, or even the art walk, there is always something to do. When it comes to night life, there are bars all over town. Some of the better ones are downtown, like Mulligan’s and Cassidy’s. Others are in the middle of town like Izzy’s. No matter what your preference, there is something for you to do at night.
Corpus Christi is a hidden gem in and of itself. The things that are advertised for tourists are definitely a must see, but there is much more once you dive down beneath the surface. We definitely recommend moving to Corpus Christi!
