1. Visit the Historic Missions of San Antonio. Along the San Antonio River are Missions that you can visit and see the historic parts of Texas. Missions that you can visit are Mission San Jose, Mission Espada, Mission Concepcion, and Mission San Juan. Not only are these beautiful architectural structures, but they are also functioning churches. You can see the dwellings that people used during this time period under the walls of the missions and get a glimpse of what life was like in the 18th Century.
2. Check out the Alamo. This a great place to visit if you only have a short period of time to spend on sightseeing, or want to have a day full of sightseeing, as the Alamo is not a large place to tour. In the Alamo, there is a history shop with artifacts that you can see, and you can tour the remnants of the historic Mission.
3. Walk along River Walk. The San Antonio River goes through the middle of San Antonio and is broken into three parts: North, Center, and South ends - and no three parts are the same. The northern end of River Walk is great place for shopping and dining. The center is great for touring, where you can visit the San Fernando Church while there. The south end is full of beautiful architecture in the King Williams area, and is also the heart of the Art District of San Antonio.
4. Try a San Antonio Original: Puffy Tacos. Think tacos, just puffy! These puffy tortillas topped with traditional Mexican toppings are a taste bud's delight. Check out Henry's for a great bite to eat.
5. Visit an Icehouse. Icehouses are a cross between a saloon and a convenience store, and date back to about 1840. When they first started, Icehouses did exactly what you'd think they'd do - sell ice. Then as time went on, Icehouses started to sell other groceries, the most popular being beer, which led to that being their sole purpose.
