Get ready for Salt Lake, because Salt Lake is preparing for you! The city's 180,000 residents have seen many newcomers enter the city limits of Salt Lake since rapid population growth was noted in 2005. In response, Salt Lake City developers plan to double the number of residential units in the central business district. Several agency developers have plans to construct condominium towers and apartment complexes in downtown areas like Gateway, Trolley Square, and Library Square. Plans to construct two large office buildings to support the expanding economy are also in progress.

Though Salt Lake City is home to the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and widely-known as a Mormon state, don't be surprised to find a city brimming with religious diversity.

Salt Lake can't hide its deep interest in film. Portions of the Sundance Film Festival bring cultural icons, celebrities, and thousands of film buffs to Salt Lake each year. Additionally, hit movies and television series such as High School Musical I and II, Dumb and Dumber, Independence Day, Touched By An Angel, and Everwood were filmed in Salt Lake. The city hosts Friday Night Flicks, a summer program that screens movies in city parks each week, free of charge.

Hosting the 2002 Winter Olympics brought international attention to winter sport locations near Salt Lake City. Eight ski resorts lie within fifty miles of Salt Lake, and the Utah Olympic Park near Park City still holds the Olympic ski jumps and bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton runs used by world-class athletes from around the planet. Olympic Park now hosts sport competitions and training sessions year-round.
