With a community that boasts over 50,000 residents, Florissant is a thriving suburb on the outlying area of St. Louis. Whether you are looking for a place to live as an individual, family, married couple or senior, Florissant has just what you are looking for in a hometown. In 2012, Florissant was named as one of the best small cities in America, despite the fact that it is not small by any means—in fact, it's the 12th largest city in Missouri and a second ring suburb of the massive St. Louis metropolitan area.
The city's name comes from the French word Fleurissant, which means “blooming.” Settlers came to the Florissant Valley area many years ago, and many believe that the first civil government was formed here in 1786. By 1787, there were 40 people living here and seven plantations growing crops. Since then, the area has only continued to grow and attract settlers and modern day developers. Currently, two theological colleges exist in Florissant, and other higher education institutes are located nearby.
Searching for a place to live in the Midwest that offers small town community charm and convenience to the big city? Florissant is where you want to call home.
