Located along Interstate 70 and Interstate 64 in St. Charles County, lies the charming city of O'Fallon. As recent as 2010, O'Fallon was hailed by Money Magazine as one the nation's 10 Best Places to Live, and it wasn't the city's first time being recognized as such—it was also ranked in 2006 and 2008. Additionally, O'Fallon has been named as one of America's “Safest Cities.” The city is large, and it is the seventh largest in the state of Missouri, though the population makes it the largest municipality by residents with a population of 79,329 as of 2010.
The history of O'Fallon is a rich one that dates back to the 1850s. German immigrants, the Krekels, settled in the area, and eventually a railroad was constructed to encourage commerce and travel. The railroad station was named after a friend of the Krekels, John O'Fallon. The area known as Krekel was eventually renamed as O'Fallon in 1912. At that time, the city was incorporated with about 600 residents. Since then, the city has grown tenfold.
